Common Lip Hair Removal Procedures
People are constantly complaining about facial hair including those that grow out of their upper lip; referred to as mustache in men. While having mustache in men is fine, finding hair on women’s upper lip is a turn off and is not sexy at all. For this reason, many lip hair removal procedures, both permanent and temporary, have been devised and invented to address this growing concern among women.
Permanent Procedures
Technological advancements have paved way to many permanent hair removal procedures including electrolysis and laser.
Electrolysis. This procedure is pretty expensive, with an hour of electrolysis costing you around $70; notwithstanding the fact that you don’t only undergo the process once. The lip hair will continue to grow back unless you undergo a series of treatments with a qualified skin care professional. What’s great about electrolysis is that you can also purchase your own equipment for as low as $30, and do the procedure yourself.
Electrolysis makes use of electricity to destroy the root of the hair. It starts off by first inserting a needle into the hair follicle. Although there have been many people who have gotten excellent results, this isn’t considered the best solution for lip hair removal.
Laser Hair Removal. Laser has become a popular option for many people dealing with unwanted hair problems. This type of hair removal is performed by a technician, and can cost you $50 to $200 per treatment. The price depends on the kind of laser technology used by the doctor. The procedure involves a low-intensity laser that is drawn to the pigment of the hair, destroying that certain pigment. Compared to electrolysis that targets one hair at a time, laser procedure can remove hundreds of hair at a time.
Temporary Procedures
Those who don’t want to spend too much on permanent lip hair removal can always resort to temporary removal using tweezers, waxing and depilatories.
Tweezers. Using tweezers is the least expensive procedure that you can do to get rid of those unwanted lip hair. The procedure may come painful the first time around, but doing it constantly every time the hair grows back will make pulling out the hair smoother and easier.
Waxing. Compared to the torture you’d feel with tweezers, waxing will only give you a one-time jab of pain. It may not be a pleasant experience for some, but many consider this a better method than tweezing. Waxing is fist done by applying a thin coat of wax before applying a thin cotton strip. The strip is then pulled against the direction of the hair growth, which is the cause of pain.
Depilatories. Depilatories are topical medications, such as cream, that destroy the proteins that bind the hair together. Using depilatories may require you to be a bit more careful and watchful as leaving the cream on for more than 10 minutes may cause chemical burn.
There is really no best lip hair removal solution. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. What really matters is the procedure you are most comfortable with, in terms of cost and effectiveness.
